Forex currencies which are paired together, trade together. There are 18 popular pairs and each one is linked by an exchange rate, which is determined by the trading supply and demand, and liquidity in each market. There are majors, minors and, for the more adventurous traders, exotic trade pairs.
The majors consist of the eight currencies most often traded: U.S. dollar (USD), Canadian dollar (CAD), euro (EUR), British pound (GBP), Swiss franc (CHF), New Zealand dollar (NZD), Australian dollar (AUD) and Japanese yen (JPY). Minor pairs are the seven currencies listed above, excluding the US Dollar. And, exotic pairs are all the other trading currencies in the markets, that trade with one another.
